「處」是哪來的概念?「貞潔」是一項人類發明的道德標準?
傅柯(Michel Foucault)深入探討了性道德化的問題,以及它如何成為社會控制和規範個人的手段。性不僅僅是生物學的現象,而是與權力和知識緊密相連的社會建構。
從中世紀開始,西方社會通過懺悔聖事等宗教儀式來產生和管理關於性的真理,這些儀式成為了控制個體行為和思想的重要工具。在亞洲社會,這種控制和規範則是通過神話故事、宗教思想、社會規範、傳統文化、政治意識型態、儒家思想等來實現,例如佛教中關於男女戒律、中國的貞節牌坊、儒家思想中三從四德等。對貞潔的崇拜將人的價值簡化為性行為的純潔度。在不同歷史時期和文化背景下,性的道德觀念都有所不同,并非一成不變,然而貞潔在當代語境下仍不是一個過時的話題。
是次展覽由「貞潔」為主題,跳出生理層面的框架,著眼其於文化層面的呈現。展覽結合公眾參與及故事投稿,嘗試在當代社會的語境下,解構貞潔潛藏於文化之中的道德束縛,探討它如何影響我們對性、身體和關係的想像。通過展覽與一系列的工作坊,我們希望與大家一起探索貞潔、性與文化及社會建構之間密不可分的關係,重新思考貞潔概念在現今社會的意義。
Where did 'virginity' come from? Do you know 'virginity' is a pure human invention?
Michel Foucault delves deeply into the moralization of sex and how it becomes a means for society to control and regulate individuals. He argues that sex is not merely a biological phenomenon but a social construct closely linked to power and knowledge, the moralization of sex becomes a means for society to control and regulate individuals.
Since the Middle Ages, Western society has used religious rituals like confession to produce and manage truths about sex, making these rituals crucial tools for controlling individual behaviour and thought. In Asian societies, this control and regulation are achieved through myths, religious beliefs, social norms, traditional culture, political ideologies, Confucian thought, and more. Examples include the Buddhist precepts concerning men and women, China's virginity arches, and the Confucian principles of the Three Obediences and Four Virtues. The worship of virginity reduces human value to the purity of sexual behaviour. Throughout different historical periods and cultural contexts, moral views on sex have varied and are not static. However, virginity remains a relevant topic in contemporary discourse.
In this exhibition, we go beyond the biological framing to explore the cultural portrayal of 'virginity' through public participation and story submissions. By deconstructing the moral constraints of 'virginity' as a concept that is embedded in our contemporary social culture, we examine the inseparable relationship between 'sex' and 'virginity’. This exhibition aims to reshape our imagination of ‘purity’ and challenge the inherent notions associated with the idea of 'virginity'.

畢業於法國南特大學,主修話語分析碩士學位,同時修讀戲劇研究與實踐課程。現為獨立寫作者和藝術工作者,從事策展工作。著有《痛之花》,策展作品包括探討精神健康議題的《痛之花》,以及聚焦離島視角的《一人一個坪洲戲院的故事》等。她的創作融合了哲學思維和戲劇元素與藝術表達,利用跨文化的視角來探討個人與社會之間的複雜聯繫,深入研究包括心理景觀、性別動態和島嶼生活等多種主題。
Graduated from the University of Nantes in France with a master's degree in discourse analysis, while also studying theatre research and practice. Currently, she is an independent writer and art freelancer engaged in curatorial work. She has authored "Flower of Pain" and "My path to Pengchau Cinema." Her creations blend philosophical thinking and theatrical elements with artistic expression, utilising a cross-cultural perspective to examine the intricate connections between individuals and their communities, delving into a variety of topics including mental landscapes, gender dynamics, and island life.

《床》探討性話題在社會中的演變,它呈現了性如何從公共領域被推入私密空間,並逐漸受到道德化和規範化的過程。《性史》提及,在社會空間中,就像在每座房屋的核心,只有一個地方是受承認隸屬於性,但那是具實用性及孕育性的:父母親的房間,剩下的就只有隱沒一途。床(或臥室)在這個語境下不僅是一個物理空間,更成為了社會規範、道德觀念和權力關係的載體。作品通過藝術的表現形式,邀請觀者重新思考性在公共討論中的位置,並探索如何打破禁忌,使性成為一個可以公開、理性討論的話題。
"Bed" explores the evolution of sexual discourse in society, presenting how sex has been pushed from the public domain into private spaces, gradually becoming moralised and regulated. "A single locus of sexuality was acknowledged in social space as well as at the heart of every household, but it was a utilitarian and fertile one: the parents' bedroom" (The History of Sexuality, Foucault). For the rest, only concealment remains. The bed (or bedroom) in this context is not merely a physical space but becomes a carrier of social norms, moral concepts, and power relations. This work invites viewers to reconsider the position of sex in public discourse and explore how to break taboos, making sex a topic that can be openly and rationally discussed.

這件實驗性作品使用了通常用於機器人房間測繪的結構光相機來創建3D人體地形圖。定制軟件將這些數據從「身體地形學」轉換為「身體印刷術」。所有文字來自公眾故事投稿,最終呈現的是一個完全由文字和字母組成的人體視覺表現。作品結合了技術、科學、視覺藝術和文學元素,創造出獨特且引人深思的體驗。
"Words Shape Humans" is a metaphor for how societal values and cultural aspects influence our physical form and self-perception. This interpretation aligns with research on cultural topography of the human body and how cultural values shape human expression and perception.
The experimental work used structured light cameras, usually found in robots for room mapping, to create a 3D body topography. A custom software was developed to convert this data from "body topography" to "body typography." All the words of this piece were collected from the public. The result is a visual representation where the human body is entirely composed of words and letters.
“Words Shape Human” stands as a testament to the power of interdisciplinary art, combining elements of technology, science, visual art and literature to create a truly unique and thought-provoking experience.

《陰道神殿》是一件以遮羞布為靈感的藝術作品。作品設計了一個特殊空間,邀請觀眾進入陰道神殿,拜祭「屁股之神」 (sextropolitan altar) —— 任何淫,它照出耀眼之光,重現《太陽肛門》中人們對性和所謂「污穢」事物的態度,類似於面對強烈陽光時的反應。
在基督教傳統中,懺悔成為了一種重要的「自身的技術」。通過懺悔,信徒被要求揭示自己最深層的慾望和思想,包括性方面的內容。信徒必須認識到自己的過錯和誘惑,並將這些內心的掙扎向神職人員或教會坦白,對未來行為的承諾,使得性慾和性行為被納入宗教和道德的監控範疇,以符合教會的道德標準。
遮羞布除了遮擋身體外,也代表了羞恥感的產生。隨著文明發展,不同文化形成了各自的遮蔽規範,這些規範逐漸影響了人們對性的看法。在中國傳統文化中,貞節常被視為女性的重要品德,女性的身體和性行為往往受到嚴格管控。這種現象在其他文化中也普遍存在。例如,古代巴比倫的女神伊什塔爾被稱為「聖潔的處女」,同時又是「神聖的母親」,反映了對女性角色的矛盾期待。這件作品以諷刺的方式呈現了社會對「貞潔」概念的崇拜,似乎將人的價值局限於此。
This work invites you to enter Vagina Temple to worship "God of Buttocks" (sextropolitan altar) whose lighting is a reference to the book The Solar Anus (1927), which describes people's attitudes towards sex and so-called "filthy" things as similar to their reaction when facing strong sunlight.
In the Christian tradition, confession was an important practice. Through confession, believers were required to reveal their deepest desires and thoughts, including those related to sexuality. Believers had to recognize their faults and temptations, and disclose these inner struggles to clergy or the church, along with commitments for future behaviour. This process brought sexual desires and sexual behaviour under the scrutiny of religious and moral standards, ensuring they conformed to the church's moral guidelines.
The fig leaf used by Adam and Eve to cover their reproductive organs, also represents the generation of shame. As civilization developed, different cultures formed their own concealment norms, which gradually influenced people's views on sex. In traditional Chinese culture, virginity is often seen as an important virtue for women, and women's bodies and sexual behaviours are often strictly controlled. This phenomenon is also common in other cultures. For example, the ancient Babylonian goddess Ishtar was called the "Holy Virgin" while also being the "Divine Mother," reflecting contradictory expectations of women's roles.

佢地覺得我夜歸就係會「亂搞男女關係」,有時天口慶著得少布啲又會俾佢地話唔檢點,仲試過話我:「咁夜岀去做雞啊?」、「著到咁想點」,次次都鬧交覺得好內耗好辛苦,感覺好冇掌控權,好似只有搬岀去先可以有多少自主。

在普遍的認知裏,「陰道冠」被描述為覆蓋陰道入口的「處女膜」。不少人以為女性的陰道口被一層名為「處女膜」的薄膜完全覆蓋,在某些情況下可能會因性行為或運動而撕裂。而不同文化中,「處女膜」的完整性都被視為是貞潔的證明。
The "Vaginal Corona" is known and described as the “Hymen” that covers the vaginal entrance . Many people believe that the vaginal opening in females is fully covered by the thin membrane called the "Hymen", which may tear in some instances due to sexual intercourse or physical activity. In different cultures, the intactness of the "Hymen" is viewed as a proof of virginity.

"If the 'hymen' is sealed, how does menstruation flow out?"
事實上,陰道冠是一層位於陰道口的環狀黏膜組織。對每位生理女性而言,大小、形狀、和厚薄都有著很大差異,每位女性的陰道冠都是不同的,而且具有彈性和延展性。
在陰道冠的中央,有一個直徑為1~1.5厘米的小孔,使月經能通過這小孔排出體外。這個小孔的形狀各人不盡相同,可分為圓形、橢圓形、環形、篩形、傘形、分葉形、星形、中隔分離形、月牙形、半月形、唇形等30餘種。陰道冠有點粉紅色,可能接近透明,但如果陰道冠比較厚,看起來會偏白。所以陰道冠看起來可能會像花瓣,也可能會像一塊拼圖或者是月牙,形態多變。
根據統計,只有千分之一到萬分之一數女性患有「陰道冠閉鎖」,即陰道冠肥大或閉鎖,覆蓋整個陰道口。在這種情況下,患者需要進行小型手術打開陰道冠,才能順利排出經血。
In reality, the vaginal corona is a mucosal tissue that surrounds or partially covers the vaginal introitus. There are various significance of the size, shape, and thickness of each vaginal corona. Each female's vaginal corona is unique, elastic, and stretchy.
There is a small opening with a diameter of 1 to 1.5 centimetres in the centre of the vaginal corona, through which menstruation can flow out of the body. The shape of this opening of each person is unique. It can be circular, oval, ring-shaped, sieve-shaped, umbrella-shaped, lobed, star-shaped, septate, crescent-shaped, semilunar, or labial, among more than 30 different shapes. The vaginal corona may appear slightly pink, possibly close to transparent, but if the corona is thicker, it may appear more whitish. Therefore, the vaginal corona may resemble petals, puzzle pieces, or crescents, with a variable appearance.
According to statistics, only a very small percentage of women, about one in a thousand to one in ten thousand, suffer from "vaginal corona closure," where the vaginal corona is enlarged or sealed, covering the entire vaginal opening. In such cases, patients may require a minor surgical procedure to open the vaginal corona to allow for the smooth passage of menstrual blood.
